Jaguar scale models: E-Type and XJ13 in miniature
Jaguar has built cars that are counted among the most beautiful in the world. The E-Type was described by Enzo Ferrari as "the most beautiful car ever made". That aesthetic power makes Jaguar equally compelling in the world of scale models. The collector market is smaller than for Ferrari or Porsche, but those who collect Jaguar do so with knowledge and passion.
CMC: the E-Type at its very best
CMC produced one of the most acclaimed scale models ever made: the Jaguar E-Type in 1:18. The model is assembled from more than 500 parts, fully demountable and finished to the last detail. The original purchase price was around €500 to €600. Most CMC E-Type versions are now sold out and achieve considerably more at resale.
AUTOart: broad Jaguar collection
AUTOart released an extensive Jaguar line in 1:18, including the E-Type Series 1 and 2, the XK120, the XJ220 and the F-Type. Quality is good and prices are more accessible than CMC (€150 to €300). The AUTOart XJ220 is popular with collectors of British supercars from the 1990s.
The XJ13: the rarest Jaguar model in scale
The Jaguar XJ13 is one of the most mythical racing cars ever built: there is only one, and it resides in the Jaguar Heritage Museum. In reality it is unique; in the scale model world it is almost equally rare. CMC and Amalgam have released versions in very limited editions. An XJ13 by CMC in good condition with box reaches prices far above the original purchase price.
Which Jaguar models are worth the most?
- CMC E-Type (all versions): sold out, market value rising steadily
- CMC/Amalgam XJ13: extremely rare, high asking prices
- AUTOart XJ220: iconic supercar, production discontinued
- Kyosho E-Type (1:18): no longer in production, rising demand
- Vintage Dinky and Corgi Jaguar models: classic toy models from the 1960s with nostalgic value
