Pauls Model Art (PMA): the premium sub-line of Minichamps
Many collectors do not realise that some of their Minichamps models carry the designation "PMA": Pauls Model Art. This is the premium sub-line of the brand, aimed at the most discerning collectors. PMA models are different from regular Minichamps — and that difference is also reflected in their value.
What is PMA?
PMA stands for "Pauls Model Art", named after founder Paul Günther. The PMA line comprises handmade or strictly limited models with higher quality standards than regular Minichamps production. The packaging is more luxurious, the details are finer and the edition sizes are smaller. PMA models are recognisable by the separate PMA logo on the box.
What are PMA models worth?
Regular Minichamps models in 1:43 are typically priced between €30 and €80 at retail. PMA versions of the same models readily cost €150 to €300. On resale, sold-out PMA editions are often worth twice their purchase price, depending on the model and condition.
- PMA F1 models of Ayrton Senna: highly sought after, prices rise quickly
- PMA road models in rare colours: 1.5 to 2 times the purchase price
- PMA special editions for dealers or events: rarer and more valuable
How do you recognise a PMA model?
Look at the box: PMA models have a separate PMA logo, usually black or silver with the text "Pauls Model Art". The box is heavier and more luxurious than standard Minichamps packaging. The edition size is sometimes stated on an insert card inside the box.
Not sure whether you have PMA models?
